Turkey (11/6/18)

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine Turkey is a warm meat.  It is useful for warming digestive fire and “treating” deficient spleen/ pancreas qi.  especially when prepared in soups or congee. 

I love ordering a fresh turkey from the Menomonie Market Food Coop and cooking it for the holiday or just to enjoy.  When it is done the carcass makes great bone broth.  This is useful for stock in making soups, improving the flavor and nutritional content of rice and can be helpful in healing or improving gut health among other health conditions.
