Sleep… According to Chinese Medicine Disordered sleep has several causes.  In Traditional Chinese Medicine we try to uncover imbalances and restore the body’s natural homeostasis.  We “regulate the opening and closing of the eyes”.   It is helpful to know if one has a difficult time falling to sleep or staying asleep.  The times one wakes and falls to sleep are also informative in determining the imbalance.

Practicing Yoga or Tai Chi can help calm the mind to allow the chatter to stop so we can sleep.  Using massage can relieve stress and tension allowing more restful sleep. Acupuncture can be used to redirect energies and regulate the flow of energy helping things be active when we need and restful when we benefit from this.  Sometimes we simply calm the mind to a degree that we can rest more deeply than we have been.  Herbal formulas can be employed to correct the imbalance.  It may be a matter of nourishing a body system that helps anchor the mind so we can sustain rest.  There are many tools we have at our disposal to help with sleep.  Check with us to see how we can help you.
